It rises and falls like the tide on the sand
A weight of black steel pressing down
Strangling, drowning
And my heart treads the water, but it’s too much to ask
I’ve sunk into a slumber
And there is no awakening.
It rises and falls like the tide on the sand
A weight of black steel pressing down
Strangling, drowning
And my heart treads the water, but it’s too much to ask
I’ve sunk into a slumber
And there is no awakening.
You wrote an excellent poem!👏
”I’ve sunk into a slumber
And there is no awakening.”
These verses are the perfect description of depression!

Thank you! Writing poetry and articulating emotions is such an effective way of dealing with negative feelings – the power of words (as I’m sure you know!)

My pleasure! Oh, yes, writing is profoundly therapeutic. ”Take your broken heart, make it into art,” as the great Carrie Fisher once said!👏♥️✨

She was certainly a wise woman – humanity isn’t much without art!
