you look different
did you cut your hair?
it seems like forever since i saw you last.
there’s makeup on your face
and you’re in a pink leather skirt
but you never used to dress up.
i guess you grew up,
or something like that.
your laugh.
it sounds different
louder
higher
not like you
i guess i smile
and make jokes
and pose for your pictures
and force laughter too
i hug you goodbye
and our eyes meet
for a little longer.
you smell the same
and there is an ache of nostalgia –
a memory of the girl
with curly hair and old jeans
i guess
things change
and people change
but a voice inside is wondering
if you’re someone i don’t know
I really felt this one, beautiful ❤

Your poem is so relatable and heartbreaking! It’s painful when friendships drift apart.
”but a voice inside is wondering
if you’re someone i don’t know…” This feeling is all too familiar! 💔
